A CUMBRIAN lifeboat team was called out to a person threatening to enter the water at Southerness on the Scottish coast.

The incident happened at 4:56am on Sunday morning.

Low tide was at 4:41, which meant Silloth RNLI lifeboat had to launch from its secondary site at West Beach.

A spokesman for Silloth RNLI said: "Also involved in the rescue were Nith Mobile Unit and Portling Coastguard. The early morning weather was dark but clear with a gentle breeze. Portling Coastguard were quickly on scene but unable to locate the casualty.
