ELEVEN runners from a business in Cumbria will take part in the upcoming Great Cumbrian Run to raise money for a Lake District charity.
The runners, from Edwin Thompson – a chartered surveyor in Cumbria – will fundraise for the Lake District Calvert Trust, a Keswick-based charity that funds outdoor activities for disabled people.
The half marathon takes place on October 1 this year, starting at the Sheepmount Athletics Stadium in Carlisle.
It takes competitors out through the city centre towards Wetheral before turning back, returning through Scotby, Rickerby Park, before a grandstand finish back at the Sheepmount.
Joanna Brand, sales negotiator at Edwin Thompson’s Keswick office, said: “Team Edwin Thompson is committed to its pledge to raise money for the wonderful Calvert Trust.
“The facilities the trust offers for people with disabilities and the people that make it happen are truly amazing.
“Edwin Thompson will do its best on this day and will be cheered on by many.”
Thanking Edwin Thompson for their support, Yvonne Booth, fundraising officer for the Lake District Calvert Trust, said: “Support like theirs makes all the difference as we continue to challenge disability through outdoor adventure.
“This is a run that’s strictly for fun.
“It’s all about relaxed exercise, accomplishing personal goals, raising money for a worthwhile cause and having a laugh in the process.”
Anyone wanting to fundraise for the charity by doing the run will get a free running vest and a discount code for registration.
