FOUR drivers have been stopped from going through a road closure in Workington, following high visibility patrols by police.
Allerdale police have been on hi-visibility patrol on Mossbay Road this evening, June 27 following reports of drivers ignoring road closure signs in the area.
Four drivers were stopped from going through the closure in what police say was 'a short space of time'.
In a statement on social media, Allerdale police said: "Allerdale NPT have been on hi-visibility patrols on Mossbay Road this evening, after reports that road users were ignoring the road closed signs.
"In just a short space of time, four drivers have been stopped going through the closure.
"This road is currently closed for workers and the public's safety. Police will monitor the situation further and road users be aware that if they are caught driving through the road closure they could be given a Fixed Penalty Notice."
