A Carlisle hospital could get a new urgent treatment centre after Cumberland Council granted outline planning permission for the development this week.
The application was for a site at Cumberland Infirmary in Newtown Road and the project would involve the realignment of an internal access road and alteration to the car parking facilities.
Cumbria coal mine plans quashed by High Court judge
The decision to grant planning permission for what would have been the UK’s first coal mine in 30 years was quashed by a High Court judge on Friday afternoon.
Mr Justice Holgate said in a ruling on Friday that giving the go-ahead for the development at Whitehaven was “legally flawed”.
Plans for nine homes in Hackthorpe, south of Penrith
The application at Town End Farm was put forward to the Westmorland & Furness Council on August 7 by the Lowther Farm Partnership.
Included in the plans are seven new houses and the conversion of an existing barn, which will create an additional two dwellings.

A bank in Carlisle city centre could get some internal alterations if the application is approved by Cumberland Council.
It is for the branch of Barclays Bank in English Street and the project would involve the removal of two ATMs and other items to be replaced by items including a coin stacker.

A forestry and agricultural building can be built in the Wigton area after officers granted planning permission, subject to conditions.
The application, which was submitted to Cumberland Council, is for a site at Easton Bridge Cottage in Easton and permission was granted on Tuesday (September 10).
Vehicle hire centre permission granted at car wash cafe
A proposal to change the use of the former Car Wash Cafe on Church Street in Carlisle to a vehicle rental centre has been given the green light by Cumberland Council planners.
Morrisons petrol station proposal includes EV charging zone
Plans have been put forward for an extension at a petrol station in Carlisle alongside the creation of an electric vehicle charging zone at the site.
The application for the petrol station at Morrisons on Kingstown Road was submitted on September 3.
Plan for four homes in Burgh by Sands deferred at meeting
Plans for four new detached homes in the Carlisle area have been deferred by councillors so that the applicant can present a more suitable proposal.
The development would involve the closure of an existing access and the creation of a new entrance and the applicant was hoping renovate Marsh House as well as removing some dilapidated outbuildings.
