Workshops for families and children to create their own lanterns for the Cockermouth’s annual parade are being organised by the Kirkgate Centre.
This year, the parade will be part of the Cockermouth by Candlelight celebrations on Friday, December 11.
Gilli Goodfellow, community engagement officer and workshop organiser, said: "We are looking forward to seeing everyone get creative and make lanterns inspired by the night sky such as stars, moons, snowflakes, moons and planets.
"Children can also create stars and moons on sticks if they prefer."
Workshops will be held at the Kirkgate Centre this Sunday and at Highfields Community Centre on Sunday, December 6, both between 10am and 4pm.
There is no need to book and families are welcome to drop in any time and stay as long as they need.
The workshops are free, with people just asked to make a donation towards materials.
The parade will make its way through Cockermouth’s Main Street, starting at 6pm outside the United Reformed Church.
The procession finishes at Market Place where there will be various activities, including a snow globe, and a festive sing-along in the Kirkgate Centre.
