A COCKERMOUTH teenager has won an award for a short, emotive film she made about her life.
Harriet Wigginton, 18, is in her final year at Cockermouth School.
She made the seven-minute film about her memories of growing up in Cumbria and thoughts about the future as part of her art and design exam last year.
The film, The Eleutheromaniac and the Nostalgic, was one of eight shortlisted for an Osprey Short Film Award in the under-19 category at Keswick Film Festival.
Harriet, who lives in Pardshaw Hall, went to Keswick's Alhambra Cinema on Saturday to see all the films. Afterwards, she was announced as the winner.
She said: "I was really surprised, because all the films were really good and all for different reasons, but also mine was quite different to all the others.
"I also felt really proud because everyone I spoke to was really complimentary!"
Sam Tinkler, Cockermouth School's head of art, accompanied Harriet to the festival.
She said: "I am delighted for Harriet, she is such a fantastic young lady, she worked tremendously hard. It is a major achievement for her and well deserved, I am very proud of her success."
The open category was also won by a former pupil of Mrs Tinkler, Andrew Elliot, originally from Workington.
Mrs Tinkler taught him art 13 years ago at Workington Sixth Form. His winning film was called Mourning.
