A Maryport takeaway owner has set up the town's first Buddhism and meditation group.
Tharaka Dharmasena, , 29, of Crosby Villa, who runs Taste of Sri Lanka on Wood Street, is a devout Buddhist who wants to share aspects of his beliefs with others.
He said he wanted to help people find "a harmonious balance and happiness in their life through the teachings of Theravada Buddhism and meditation".
He said the nearest Buddhist centre was in Carlisle and was run by a different sect to the one from his part of Sri Lanka.
Tharaka has his own altar and meditation times at home but is looking forward to sharing with others.
The first meditation meeting will be at the Settlement on High Street, on Monday from 7pm to 8pm.
Sessions are free but people are asked to make a donation of around £2 for the hire of the room and refreshments.
He has already created a page on social networking website Facebook.
