A Little Broughton mum-of-four is proud to have raised more than £1,000 for a brave five-year-old leukaemia sufferer.
Nichelle Gibbons, 32, of Ghyll Bank, has shaved her hair on Monday at Maryport's Jazz Hair Studio.
The cash raised will help support Emily Shutt, five, of Railbank Drive, Workington, who is fighting cancer for the third time.
The cash is needed to support the little girl and her family during a medical trial at London's Great Ormond Street Hospital, which she is hoping to qualify for in January.
Nichelle, who is a full-time mum to Josh, 11, Katie, eight, Jayden, five, and Kara, five, said: "I've known Emily since she was a baby, I met the family at a mother and toddler group. I can't help thinking that it could happen to one of my children.
"I thought it was time I helped sponsor her."
Nichelle, who is a part-time student, studying for her maths and English GCSEs, set up a page on the just giving website.
She said: "I didn't expect to raise much, the money all came from strangers. I'm very proud.
"This is not the last thing I'm doing for Emily, I'm planning a fund-raising night for her. It makes me smile knowing that I've done something for somebody else.
"My children all know Emily and I know they're going to be proud of me."
Friend Amanda McKenzie, 35, of Moorclose, filmed Nichelle during the head shave so people who had donated would not miss out on this moment.
Nichelle's brother Emmerson Hancock, 23, who is a hairdresser at Jazz Hair Studio, shaved his sister's hair.
He said: "It's for a good cause, I think she's very brave and I'm proud of her. It's important to me that she asked me to do it."
