About 130 people who helped with West Cumbria's flood recovery and relief efforts in December were thanked at a reception.
Allerdale council leader Alan Smith hosted the event at Energus, Lillyhall.
Guests included representatives of Churches Together, Maryport Inshore Rescue, mountain rescue teams, the Duke of Lancaster's Regiment, Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association and Sellafield.
Workington MP Sue Hayman attended and added her thanks to those who had helped.
Councillor Smith said, the event was to mark and thank those who went above and beyond to help friends, family and strangers following the flooding in December.
He added that it was recognise the community spirit and hard work shown by every single person.
Coun Smith said: "It was fantastic to see people from every gender and faith, young people and old, those who were flooded or not, all working together to get people’s homes back in order.
"It demonstrated a human desire to help those in need."
