Cumbria Men's League champions Distington got their new campaign off to a flying start with a hard-fought victory over Hensingham on Saturday.
Distington narrowly picked up the win 24-20 at the final whistle.
Maryport were also victorious, beating Seaton 44-18 while Glasson lost out 28-18 at the hands of Ulverston.
Barrow Island were 34-10 winners over new boys Ellenborough while Walney beat Roose 32-18.
In the Iggesund Cumberland League, Aspatria had a convincing 70-6 victory over Great Clifton.
Flimby nilled their opponents to rack up a 90-0 scoreline over Hensingham A while Kells A travelled to Broughton Red Rose and won 32-0.
The final result saw Egremont A edge out Seaton A 20-6.
