More than 14,000 daffodils are helping keep the seaside village of Allonby beautiful.
Friends of Allonby Green, a committee of volunteers dedicated to ensure the town is an attractive place to live and visit, planted the daffodils last November with the help of about 25 residents.
The daffodils, along the coastal path, are now in bloom and have attracted many positive comments.
This is only the start for the committee, however.
Spokeswoman, Pat Robinson, said as a result of donations from villagers, 20 wooden planters have been bought.
"We will put them outside houses. We will supply the soil and plants and will ask those villagers who want them to take care of the boxes if they can. Otherwise we will look after them.
She said the group is also trying to encourage responsible dog walking.
"We have a problem with people not picking up after their dogs and letting them run among the daffodils which is damaging some.
"A lot of these people tend not to be from Allonby but people who just come here to walk their dogs."
She said Allonby is a lovely village in which to live and visit and this committee, with the help of residents, intends to keep it that way.
