Police are investigating a death after a body was found in a burnt-out caravan at Moor Road, Stainburn, Workington.
Police were called at 7.57pm on the March 14 following concern for the welfare of a missing 45-year-old woman, of Workington.
Cumbria Fire and Rescue was called to the fire, involving a caravan and a horse box, at 3.48pm yesterday.
Firefighters from Workington spent an hour there.
It is not known whether the fire brigade informed the police.
The scene has been cordoned off and officers are making enquiries.
A fire dogs unit was at the scene this afternoon.
A police spokesman said: "The family of the 45-year-old woman are being supported by specially trained officers."
The woman has been named locally as Diane Sloan, but that has not been confirmed by police.
The fire was in a field next to the Stainburn bypass, accessed via a track off Moor Road.
