People in Seaton and Camerton have been left without phones and internet access because of a fault in a BT line.
The fault, affecting landline telephone and broadband services, was reported on Saturday.
Seaton Junior School is among about 100 homes and businesses affected.
Engineers are working to fix an underground cable.
A BT spokesman said the firm expected service to resume by Friday.
The spokesman added: “We are very sorry for any inconvenience caused to those currently without service in the Seaton and Camerton area.
"Engineers are working to repair a faulty underground cable and will restore service as quickly as possible.”
