Lantern workshops will be held in Cockermouth, in the run up to the town parade later this month.
A free workshop will take place at the Kirkgate Centre on Saturday, on the following Saturday (November 24) one will be held at Highfield Community Centre. They both run from 10am to 4pm and are supported by the borough and county council.
A spokesman said: "We have a river industry theme this year. Professional lantern makers Stomping Ground will help people make a magical lantern inspired by Cockermouth’s rich industrial river heritage which includes, mills, chimneys, tanneries, waterwheels, shoes, hats, gloves and, the one that endures - brewing!"
The lantern parade will meet in Memorial Gardens at 5.30pm on Friday, November 30, before setting off at 6pm. Cockermouth Music School's Samba band will lead the parade through the town to the town hall.
A creative group has been set up to plan and manage the event. It includes Riversmeet, New Arts North, Sing Owt and the Kirkgate Centre.
