BOOKWORMS at a Cockermouth primary school have raised £1,700 for Team Evie.
All of the youngsters at Fairfield Primary School, who were celebrating World Book Day today, took part in a week-long reading challenge.
Teacher Erin Strickland said: "They came up with a reading activity which can involve anything from reading a whole Harry Potter book in a week to reading to a sibling each night. We had an amazing range of challenges."
Pupils in the school council were keen to support Team Evie.
"It is an incredible local charity, supporting families through difficult times in hospital," said Mrs Strickland.
"They provide a wealth of equipment to many hospitals and the reading challenge money will be spent on a mobile library for a ward to make hospitals stays more bearable for children and their families."
