Major Cumbrian car sales firm Border Cars, which employs hundreds of people across the county and in southwest Scotland, is in financial turmoil.
The firm, which has branches in Carlisle, Workington and three further sites in Scotland including Dumfries, has confirmed that it is facing difficulty.
In a statement published today, Border Cars, which employs more than 200 people, admitted that "the company has now entered financial difficulty".
However a spokesman for for Companies House confirmed that they have "received no filings to place [Border Cars] into administration".
An email seen by The News & Star sent to Border Cars employees on behalf of the company's owners said "as I am sure you are now all aware, Border Cars has recently suffered issues with cash flow."
