Workington Derwent Rotary has thanked volunteers who have helped them to support the community during the lockdown.
With many Rotary members self-isolating, help for the food pantry, which the club started in 2018, arrived from Groundworks Cumbria, who provide programmes to change peoples lives and help communities become more resilient.
They gave Jane Hodgson and Sharon McMinn, two of their Journey 2 Work team, to help out. Support has also come from volunteers Val Wilson, Sarah Caton, Lesley Johnston, Gillian Thompson and Dave Hogg and Angela Good and her team at Moorclose Community Centre.
The food pantry was transferred from the British Legion to the centre to comply with social distancing requirements and is now being held twice a month, with food also being provided to Northside and Distington food pantries.
More than 600 parcels have been distributed during lockdown.
Food was provided by The Trussell Trust and Morrisons, who also provided bags and assistance, and dog food from Animal Concern.
The next pantry will take place on July 17.
