A COCKERMOUTH woman who set off a year ago this week to run from her home to Mongolia – to raise awareness of the climate crisis – has notched up an incredible 4,0000km.
Rosie Watson was in lockdown in Albania from March but set off again in mid-July.
She has spent the past few weeks running through Kosovo and into North Macedonia from where she will head to Bulgaria.
Rosie, 25, set off from her parents' home near Lorton last August and has run thousands of kilometres through Europe.
Along the way, the experienced runner has been meeting people who are creating a new, more sustainable, way of living.
She has been wild camping and enjoying incredible hospitality while sharing her experiences on The New Story Run website.
In Bulgaria, Rosie plans to join the Kom Emine trail, a high-mountain long-distance trail which follows the main ridge of the Balkan Mountains.
The 650km route bisects the country and has a highest point of 2,376m. She then plans to take a ferry across the Black Sea to Georgia.
