Here is a round-up of the north and west Cumbrian court cases covered this week:
Carlisle Crown Court
Mark Clark, 49, of George Street, Whitehaven, admitted attempted robbery. He was jailed for 44 months.
Peter Thomas Dowdall, 38, of Monkhouse Road, Salterbeck, Workington, was sentenced to eight months in prison for assault.
Jordan McDowell, 27, of Eskdale Street, Workington, pleaded guilty to possessing a bladed article in public without authority, criminal damage, and wounding. He was given a 16-month jail term, suspended for 18 months. He must also complete 20 days of rehabilitation and a three month 9pm to 6am curfew.
Craig Cherry, 21, of Orton Road, Carlisle, admitted breaching a court restraining order; witness intimidation; damaging a CCTV security camera; and common assault. He was jailed for two years and subjected to an indefinite restraining order.
Carlisle Magistrates Court
Robert Alexander Morrison, 26, of Borland Avenue, Carlisle, ordered to pay a total of £180 after damaging an Enterprise rental car.
Philip Holm, 39, of Peter Street, Workington, admitted possession of the class C drug Pregabalin. He was fined £45 and ordered to pay a £34 surcharge to fund victim services, and £85 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service.
Matthew Donald Errington, 31, formerly of Westwood, Morton, Carlisle, admitted drink driving. He was fined £150.
Bradley John Hickman, 36, of Stonegarth, Morton, Carlisle, was fined £50 after admitting being in possession of a quantity of amphetamines. He also admitted to the assault of two women and a man in Penrith. He was given a 12-month community order, requiring him to compete 120 hours of unpaid work, and pay £100 each in compensation to two of the victims.
Christopher George Grierson, 50, of Lediard Avenue, Carlisle, was given a 12-month community order requiring him to be under curfew between the hours of 8pm and 6am for the next 12 weeks, after admitting a breach of a non-molestation order in relation to a woman he was barred from speaking to.
David Mark McCubbin, 28, of Hazel Dene, Harraby, Carlisle, admitted being drunk and disorderly and a public order offence by using threatening and abusive behaviour. He was fined £150.
