Rescue teams were called out on Friday after a man, 71, suffered head and neck injuries in a fall on Hindscarth.
Keswick Mountain Rescue Team and the Great North Air Ambulance were called out at 12.29 after the man's wife contacted 999.
A Keswick MRT member is also an air ambulance doctor and indicated that air ambulance was available if necessary.
Due to the potential severity of the casualty's head and neck injuries, GNAAS was necessary and arrived on the scene shortly before mountain rescue lifesavers.
The 71 year old man's injuries were assessed and pain relief was given before he was stretchered onto the air ambulance and taken to hospital.
Incident number six took 18 team members three hours to ensure the casualty's safety.
