Talented playmaker Jamie Doran has given Workington Town a huge boost by agreeing a new deal with the club.
Doran will stay at Derwent Park for a further three years, which takes him to the end of the 2024 season.
And he said it was an easy decision to make – to stay as part of Chris Thorman’s side.
“It was a no-brainer to re-sign. It’s a great club and a great town with brilliant fans. The board and coaching staff have treated me really well and I thoroughly enjoy it here with a great group of lads.
“The deal will take me near to my testimonial year so it’s great to be at the club for so long and gives both me and club stability in my playing position.”
The half-back added: “Chris Thorman signing a contract extension was also played a massive part in my decision.
“To be coached by someone who’s played in the halves at the highest level in Super League and the NRL means that I’m learning all the time and our relationship has built really strongly over the last 18 months.
“My new wife Carrie-Anne was also a big factor in re-signing as she loves the club and watches me home and away. Thanks to Ian Rooney who’s also helped me with over the last few weeks.”
Doran joined from Wigan Warriors in 2015 and has been an ever present for Town since.
Head coach Chris Thorman said he was delighted to keep Doran at the club and that he brings a lot to the team.
“I’m extremely pleased that Jamie has signed his extension. Everyone knows how talented he is and what he brings to the team,” said Thorman.
“He is highly respected and regarded by his teammates and I know that the Town fans will love this news.
He continues to improve on and off the pitch and I’m really looking forward for working with him over the coming seasons.”
