MOUNTAIN rescuers were called out when a man collapsed on a popular fell near Keswick yesterday morning.
The 64-year-old man collapsed when he tried to stand up after a rest at the top of the climb up Skelgill Bank on Catbells. His wife called 999 and asked for Mountain Rescue assistance.
Sixteen members of Keswick Mountain Rescue Team attended. The casualty was assessed by team medics before being walked down to an awaiting ambulance for further assessment.
A spokesman said: "Many thanks to the ice cream van for the kind donation of very welcome 99s!"
