- Possession of knives charge
A Seaton man will be sentenced at crown court on August 6 after he admitted charges relating to knife possession.
Christopher Telfer, 39, of Hunters Drive, Seaton, pleaded guilty to two charges of possessing a bladed article - namely kitchen knives - without good reason.
The charges related to an incident on June 10 in Workington.
- Speeding charge
Stuart Dargue, 50, of Churchview in Newton Arlosh, appeared at Carlisle Magistrates Court on Thursday.
He had previously denied a charge of speeding on the A595 Wigton Road in Carlisle. The court heard he was caught by a home office approved device driving his Ford at 38mph in a 30 zone.
Dargue was found guilty, and fined £125. He was also ordered to pay costs of £625 and a victim surcharge of £34. His driving license was also endorsed with three penalty points.
- Child neglect charge
This week a mother admitted to failing to ensure a medical condition was properly treated and allowing youngsters to sleep in an unsanitary bedroom.
The woman, who cannot be identified to protect the identity of the children, pleaded guilty to three charges of cruelty to a person aged under 16 when she appeared at Carlisle Crown Court.
All three of her offences were committed in an Eden district village between September 2017, and January of the following year.
- Assault charge
A homeless woman is set to be sentenced for assault. Maeve Lochhead, 25, of no fixed abode, appeared at Workington Magistrates Court on Friday.
She pleaded guilty to one charge of assault relating to an incident on June 26 in Whitehaven, when she assaulted a female victim by beating her.
Lochhead was remanded on unconditional bail until a further hearing on July 27, again at Workington Magistrates Court. The case was adjourned so a pre-sentence report can be prepared.
