Cumbrian swim star Luke Greenbank is through to the semi-finals of the 200m backstroke at the Olympics after victory in his heat in Tokyo.
Greenbank, who began his career in the pool with Cockermouth Swimming Club, won heat two of his favoured event today and will now move on to try and earn a place in the final.
Swimming in lane four, Greenbank returned a time of 1:54.63, which was the fastest in all four heats.
Top seed Evgeny Rylov also sailed through winning his heat in a time of 1:56.02 with the USA's Ryan Murphy, also highly fancied in this event, sealing a semi-final berth in 1:56.92, winning heat three.
The semi-finals will take place tomorrow.
