NEIL Bewley is providing Maryport with a sweet taste of the past.
He has bought himself an electric bike and battery-powered chiller and is selling ice cream the old-fashioned way.
Neil made an appearance during the recent heatwave and his first visit to the home of Margaret Poland, who had owned and run the first ice cream shop in the town.
He is keeping his day job as a builder but takes the bike out when the fancy suits him and is greeted with delight.
Neil bought the ice cream bike from a friend last summer but did not take it out until the sun shone – and shine it did.
It is not only Maryport people who are enjoying the newest ice cream man. He has also been in Keswick where he was well received.
Neil is a keen biker and has an electric mountain bike: “It is different but is quite hard,” he said.
There are no treats for his fellow bikers, though, as the ice cream stays at home on those occasions...
