A WORKINGTON gym brought a whole lot of fun this weekend, hosting a sports day for people around the town.
The Xtreme Fitness gym at Lillyhall hosted the day last Sunday as a way of bringing families together after an awful year of Covid.
The Xtreme Fitness’ Family Fun Day aimed to provide some hppiness to children and their families who had missed out on things like sports days due to the last year in the pandemic.
Bouncy castles, crazy bulls, medals, races, and burgers were tall on the go at the event as they welcomed over 300 families to their centre in Lillyhall for their free family fun day.
Lee Butterworth who owns Xtreme Fitness, said: “It was great to see everyone enjoying themselves, not only the kids but all the parents had some brilliant fun too, which is what it’s all about.
" think everyone in the fitness industry now feels that collective enthusiasm about health and wellbeing, which has never been greater, we all know the harsh reality of the pandemic, which has really affected people's ‘get up and go’ and that’s an area we really want to combat."
The team at Xtreme Fuel, led by Aga Coulson, which is part of Xtreme Fitness, cooked up a storm with burgers, hot dogs and treats aplenty for hungry fun seekers.
Lee first started in a smaller unit but quickly outgrew his premises and kept moving to larger premises until finally relocating to a 20,000sqft square foot former car showroom last year, during the pandemic.
The new premises also has a large side pitch of grass, which has been used for lots of different activities this year, such as badminton and the family fun day.
Xtreme Fitness now has over 1300 members and employs 16 staff,
Lee hopes to use events such as this to get people who may not be focused on fitness up to the gym, he said: “We hope events like this inspire others to come and try out the gym, or just try having a go at improving parts of their life that they aren’t happy with.
"It’s not just about coming and getting fit, it’s also about the social opportunities and being part of a community of likeminded fun and motivated people. Our family fun day brought everyone together, and it was a great success for our first one.
“We like to look beyond our immediate Xtreme family and think of our wider community and provide opportunities for everyone to be together, enjoying life. I’d like to say a big thanks to our team on the day, who without we couldn’t have put the day on."
They are already making plans to have similar events next Easter and August bank holiday.
