A family from Allonby have managed to raise £33,000 for a charity who helped them during an incredibly difficult time.

The family and friends of Miley Todd raised the money for The Sick Children's Trust.

They gave her parents a place to stay minutes away from her bedside when she was critically ill before she passed away aged ten.

Sam Todd, Miley's sister, said: "We really wanted to do something to say thank you to The Sick Children’s Trust as Crawford House meant my parents could be with Miley whenever they wanted.

"It was also somewhere they could rest, shower, change and talk to other families.

"Looking back on everything we have achieved for Miley, it spurs us on to do more."

The family launched Smile For Miley to keep her memory alive after she sadly passed away in 2018.

The Sick Children's Trust gave her parents, Dom and Lesley, a place to stay at Crawford House when Miley was taken to Newcastle RVI.

They described Crawford House as their 'home from home' and said that it will always hold a special place in their heart.

The service has now been available for twenty five years and they have helped over 12,000 families in this time.

Alexia Addis, Community Fundraising Officer, said: "The determination of Smile for Miley is incredibly inspiring. It’s amazing to see how much they have achieved over the last couple of years and how much they have grown.

"Smile for Miley never give up. They are always looking for new ways to fundraise."
