A COLLECTION has been organised in Workington Morrisons, to create Christmas parcels for our troops in Afghanistan.
The Workington Royal British Legion Women's section have arranged to have a trolley placed at the front of the store for the public to send items such as food, toiletries and goodies to in hampers to troops all over the world.
Morrisons Community Champion, Lesley Jackson is also involved in The Royal British Legion Women's Section in Workington, they have sent boxes over to the troops now for a couple of years.
She said:"It's something that we have done for a long time, since the troops were out in Afghanistan.
"The response that we got off them in other years was lovely, everybody likes a nice surprise at Christmas don't they.
"It's just nice that we can show a little bit of appreciation, you just don't know what's around the corner.
"They (the troops) are trying to keep us safe."
