A LIFEBOAT team has welcomed a new vehicle to its fleet which will perform several roles.
Silloth RNLI will be using the Mercedes van, which was originally part of the RNLI flood vehicle fleet based at Workington, as an aid to escort the lifeboat through the town.
Other roles which the new vehicle will perform include carrying the team’s equipment and moving other items, like Silloth RNLI’s pop up shop.
Silloth RNLI took to social media to express their joy over the new vehicle.
They said: “Silloth RNLI lifeboat station are pleased to welcome a new (to them) vehicle to use as an aid to escort the lifeboat through the town.”

If you find yourself in an emergency situation or spot someone else in trouble, you should call 999 or 112 and ask for the coastguard. If you are inland and see someone in difficulty on the water, be it on a river or a lake, you should ask for Fire and Rescue when you call for help.
