VARIOUS events are taking place for Remembrance Sunday this weekend.
There will be a parade in Harrington in the morning.
It will assemble at 9.30am at the Royal British Legion building on Salterbeck Road and will be led by Parade Marshal, Sgt Ross Murphy.
The parade will process to St Mary’s Church on Rectory Close for a service at 10am led by Reverend Julia Powley.
The Workington parade will take place in the afternoon.
It will assemble at 1.45pm on Pow Street and will be led by Parade Marshall, Sgt Ross Murphy.
The parade will then set off at 2pm and process to Vulcan Park for the service at the Cenotaph which will be led by Reverend Julia Powley, The Mayor’s Chaplain.
Following the service at the Cenotaph, the parade will continue to St Michael’s Church for the final service of the day led by the Very Reverend Dr. Francis Ward at approximately 3pm.
There will be a service in St Nicholas Church, Flimby at 10am.
The Maryport parade and service will be held in the afternoon of the same day.
The parade will assemble at the top of Fleming Square at 2.30pm.
It is expected to move off at 2.45pm for the service to be held in St Mary’s Parish Church.
This will be followed by the Wreath Laying Ceremony in the Memorial Gardens.
The Clergy, Standard Bearers and Wreath Layers will head this parade and organisations will follow.
After the ceremony the parade will reform on the Cockermouth Road, and proceed via the A594 to the Saluting Base, then to the Maryport Rugby Club, Mealpot Road.
In Cockermouth, there will be a service at Christ Church at 1.00pm, followed by a shorter wreath laying service/ceremony at the Cenotaph at 2pm.
