WORKINGTON Town have been left 'delighted' this week as experienced back-rower Rhys Clarke has re-committed to the squad for 2022.
The Geordie was initially on a one month trial at Derwent Park from Newcastle Thunder last season, buck extended his contract in June last year.
He has now re-committed for next year.
A club spokesman said: "We’re delighted to announce that Rhys Clarke has re-signed for the 2022 season!
"Negotiations were challenging but Chris Thorman knows how to sweet talk a Geordie. "
The re-signing of the former Newcastle Thunder player is set to strengthen boss Chris Thorman's squad ahead of 'The Blue and White Army's' promotion into the Championship for the 2022 season.
Head Coach Chris Thorman said: "'I've always said if we're going to be successful, we need to have a core of Cumbrians - and we do. But a sprinkling of good people from elsewhere is also essential, nothing beats a Geordie and we have a belter in Rhys. I love the mix and balance in our squad and there is more to come."
The club will join fellow Cumbrian teams Barrow and Whitehaven in the championship season next year for hat is hoping to be a stellar season for the Workington Town boys.
This is one in a number of key signings that have taken place in recent weeks, with experience centre/winger Joe Brown also commiitting the the club in 2022.
Joe said :"After joining the club and what we achieved in getting promotion it was a easy decision. The lads have been fantastic since I arrived and the fans are one of the best set of fans to play in front off."
