THE family and friends of missing Maryport man Glen Jackson are keeping the search for their loved one alive.

Glen Jackson, 46, was last seen in the High Street area of the town on Saturday, May 21.

Cumbria Police, along with members of the community, have been searching for Glen since he went missing - what they described as 'one of the largest search operations in the county’s recent history'.

However, police have now told the family that the search has been scaled down, and Glen's family and friends are heartbroken over the news.

On May 21, the front door to Glen's home was found open and his important personal belongings were inside. This included blood thinning medication, which is taken every day. His dog was also left inside, which his family said was completely out of character.

Lauren Orme, a family friend, said: "He just needs to be found and I will not give up. I made that promise to his mum.

"I think it is disgusting how the police have closed the case as they 'believe he is dead'. They cannot say that he's gone, there has been no body or anything found."

Lauren paid for missing posters and put them up across the local area. But it appears some posters have been removed or taken down, only adding to the family's heartbreak.

Lauren spoke about this saying: "The fact people have gone out of their way to not just take them down but to rip them up as well.

"It is awful, it is important that them posters are up everywhere and anywhere."

Lauren made a desperate plea over information regarding the disappearance, saying: "I will not stop and that is a promise. Glen is the most loving man you could ever meet. He always has time to speak to anyone. He has helped a lot of people including me.

"Glen went everywhere with Casey his dog, even if it was to nip to the shop she would wait outside and the people in the shop would stroke her. We need to get her daddy home, she is missing him so much.

"We're asking everyone to help us even if they don't know him. He is a human and he still needs to be found, he is someone's son, someone's friend and someone's partner."

A spokesperson for Cumbria Police said: “Mr Jackson has been missing for two-and-a-half months. Over this period, officers have conducted one of the largest search operations in the county’s recent history.

“Despite these efforts, Mr Jackson remains missing at this time.

“Whilst there are currently no outstanding lines of enquiry, no outstanding missing person enquiry is ever ‘closed’ whilst the individual remains unaccounted for."

Police are still asking for information regarding Glens whereabouts: “Cumbria Police continues to urge anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Glenn Jackson to come forward and officers will continue to work with his family moving forward.

“Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Glenn Jackson incident can report online at cumbria.police.uk/report-it ."

“You can also phone on 101.”
