WORKINGTON MP Mark Jenkinson has been recognised as a parliamentary champion for the Long Live the Local Campaign by one of the industries leading trade associations.
The campaign ran by the British Beer & Pub Association has recognised Mr Jenkinson for his work in championing local pubs in the Workington Constituency.
Mr Jenkinson holds the pub trade close to his heart and recognises it's importance as an employer - having previously worked in Wetherspoons behind the bar and as a shift manager.
On being recognised by the trade assosciation for his commitment to local pubs, Mr Jenkinson said: "It’s fantastic to be recognised as a pub champion, as someone spent many years in the pub trade at various levels - and as someone who has been very supportive at the other side of the bar since I’d better not tell you when."

Mr Jenkinson no longer drinks, however believes that local pubs are much more important to local communities than just somewhere where people can go for a drink.
The MP said: "It’s been four years since I stopped drinking, but I recognise the huge role of pubs in our communities and they cater more now than ever for non-drinkers too."
