Volunteers from a Cockermouth group donned their wellies and retrieved more than 20kg of rubbish.
"The Rotary Club of Cockermouth carried out their own litter clearance project last week.
"The club members retrieved almost half a hundredweight of bottles, cans and abandoned objects that had been thrown into the Bitter Beck area," said a spokesman.
The club is planning a further litter pick around the town and its cycleway later this month.
President Julia Mather appealed to residents: "Please keep our becks and walks free of litter."
