A TASTY line-up of food and drink producers are about to bring new flavours to Cumbria at the first Whitehaven Alive festival.
Whitehaven Alive will take place on September 9 and 10 and will include a free-to-attend event village on the harbourside from 10am-6pm.
From cocktails, churros and chilli, to chippy classics, Creole cookery and crepes galore, there will be something to whet everyone’s appetite.
Some of the producers will be well-known to food festival fans, like the spicy Wiga Wagaa and the Spanish favourite Senor Churro, but there are others which will bring new ingredients to Whitehaven, like Viking-inspired meaty dishes from Lancashire’s Scrandinavia.
There will also be rice dishes and meatballs from Bella Paella and sweet treats like Belgian cookie dough and chocolate fruit kebabs from Chunky Choccy.

Non-food stalls will abound too, like handmade candles and wax melts from The Victorian Candle Co and British-made homeware from Natural Isle, as well as hair accessories from Pretty Heads Studio.
In the evening the festival’s focus will then be on Copeland Stadium as radio legend Chris Moyles will bring his '90s Hangover show on the Friday night and platinum-selling pop rock band Scouting For Girls will bring their raft of famous tunes on the Saturday evening.
Porsche Centre South Lakes, partners of Whitehaven Alive, will be one of the focal brands on the quayside, in amongst the food and drink vendors, and will be accompanied by a Ferris Wheel, street entertainment, and other family attractions.

Co-festival director, Andrea Winders, said: “We know how proud this county is of its food and drink and we know how much locals and visitors love to try it.
"That’s why we’re mixing some cracking Cumbrian traders with some quirky additions from further afield to bring an array of flavours to Whitehaven Alive.
“There will be loads to try and even more to buy, with the chance to stock up your fridge and cupboards or eat some fabulous hot food on the harbourside.
"There’s no charge to enter the festival village so you can save your cash for shopping in the food market, and exploring the shops, cafés, pubs and restaurants in Whitehaven too.
“We’re determined to make this an event which has something for everyone so please come along and tuck in!”
Tickets for the concerts are still available from whitehavenalive.com.
