The future of a much-loved town festival is in your hands.
That is the message from the organisers of Cockermouth Live!
A hard-working team has been running the annual event, which launched post floods in 2010, and for various reasons some of them are having to step down.
They are all keen however for the show to go on - and hoping a new crew will step up to the mark.
Chairman Bob Pritchard said: "We are offering a ready-made solvent festival and would like to get a new team in place to run it.
"The festival had a very successful return to full strength in 2022, but, with most of the current organisers stepping down, we don't think it can survive and thrive in 2023 without new people getting involved."
A meeting is being held next week in the hope that new faces will come forward and ideas can be shared.
"The festival is in good heart and, over the years, we have accumulated assets, both physical and digital, to support the organisation.
"We've been thrilled to have curated this delightful community experience over recent years - we very much hope some new blood will keep this Cockermouth heart pumping into the future," said Bob.
"There are many possibilities for improving and growing our wonderful community festival.
"The current tiny band of volunteer organisers is dwindling to the point where next year's event cannot take place unless at least four more folk step up to help shape and manage it.
"This is crucial in terms of establishing a manageable workload for all involved."
There are many areas of specific activity which need people to get involved - from marketing and publicity to organising equipment for performances.
"We're also keen to hear how people think things can be differently, better," said Bob.
The meeting will be held at 7.30pm on Friday, September 9, at the Friends' Meeting House, Kirkgate, Cockermouth.
