THIS weeks trader of the week has a talent for gifting and stitching and fetches something new to Aspatria's high street.
Dawn Richardson, 39 who lives in Plumland owns 'Gift and Stitch' which is a gift shop based in Aspatria. Dawn also specialises in embroidery and supplies school uniforms to the local schools and local businesses. The shop is full of gifts for all occasions.
The pandemic for Gift and Stitch was tough. Dawn had just moved into shop two weeks prior when she was forced to close, she described this as 'devastating'. However, through hard work the store lived to tell the tale.
Dawn bought a van to delover to customers who were not able to leave the house. However, the store is also grateful to the members of the public who got behind the 'Shop Local' campaign.
Since reopening, Gift and Stitch have went from strength to strength and have taken on six new contracts school contracts to supply uniform. This has lead to two more members of staff joining the team.
Dawn spoke about what the best part of owning Gift and Sitch is, saying:
"I love hearing the compliments from customers about the shop. I put my heart and soul into it and it has worked. It is nice to see my hard work pay off and watch the growth of the business."
Gift and Stitch is quite unique to Aspatria and Dawn explained what sets it apart, saying:
"Locally there isn’t much else like it. Aspatria is quite quiet and the flexibility we offer from the shops, to the embroidery and personalised gifts make a difference. We have lovely staff who always offer a warm welcome."
