Prentice Wilkinson Wier, activities manager at Honister Slate Mine, said: "We’re really excited to host a horror weekend deep underground. After multiple screenings have sold out over the past 18 months we hope we can continue to bring a unique twist to the usual cinematic experience.

"We’re determined to give every guest a great day out up here at Honister and provide people with memories that last! With mulled wine and hot cider to keep you warm down the tunnels this should be great."

HALLOWEEN FESTIVAL- MUNCASTER CASTLE

A staple in many families 'spooky season' calenders, the Halloween Festival will return again this year.

"There is no place like spooky Muncaster Castle to spend your Halloween in 2022!" they say.

"Zombies, ghosts, ghouls and witches will be descending into the gardens and maze. So grab your broomsticks, some zombie medicine, your biggest scream and join us.

"From 10.30am to 6pm the festival will be family friendly with activities for all ages.

"From 6pm it gets dark and things turn scary - no longer be recommended for young children. "
