A NEW salon has been opened in Workington with hopes to bring something different to the town.
Sisters Katie Maughan, 26 and Molly Ferguson, 22 who are from Flimby, have opened Dolly Monroe’s hair, beauty and laser clinic on Murray Road in the centre of town.
Talking about the work that has gone into setting up the salon, owner Katie said: "We just wanted to go into business together, so we found a space and we have just totally renovated it - my husband Ryan and his friend Gary McHugh have literally just worked in it solidly for six months.
"The salon is all neutral, pampas vibes - somewhere clean, simple and neat.
"We just wanted something that nobody really has so it's something different for us to stand out."
Katie has named the shop after her 18-month-old daughter Dolly - with hopes she may continue the legacy when she grows up.
The 26-year-old worked fulltime in the NHS before getting pregnant her daughter Dolly during the Covid pandemic, with the mother one deciding she wanted a change after her daughter was born.
Katie said: "Originally I wasn't gong back to any type of work, but then I got the itch and thought I need to do something."
The sisters are excited to go into business together, with the pair describing one another as their 'best friend'.
Katie said: "We are literally best friends, we don't argue we really are just best friends and I am absolutely chuffed that we are going into the salon together, we are so fortunate that we can work together now."

Manager Molly Ferguson said: "Managing the business alongside my sister is amazing, we get on really well, it’s like working with my best friend.
"I’ve been in the beauty industry for 6 years now and at 22 is such an achievement. Our salon is everything we imagined."
Space is available in the salon for hairdressers and make-up artists, with Katie running laser treatments, Molly running her nail business and aesthetics treatments and teeth whitening also available.
Katie said: "We have got a lot of variety, it's quite a big space and we have got a lot that we can rent out to people."
