A POPULAR theatre group will return to the stage next week with their own take on a smash hit West End musical.
Maryport Amateur Operatic & Dramatic Society Junior Section Spotlight are delighted to be presenting a specially adapted version of the West End smash hit Matilda the Musical Jr - telling the story of a little girl who, armed with a vivid imagination and sharp mind, dares to take a stand and change her own destiny.
With less than one week until opening night ticket sales are flying out with two performances already sold out.
Spotlight leader Katie Weir said: "Rehersal's are going extremely well with everyone working really hard. The dedication the children have put in every Wednesday and Sunday since September is second to none and they deserve those sell out audiences every night.
"As a society we are all extremely proud of the children and cannot wait to bring Matilda onto the stage at the Carnegie next week and guarantee the show will be filled with exceptional scenic design, fantastic choreography and staging with an incredible cast of young local performers."

Taking her 1st Principal role will be Ella Peers cast as Matilda who is looking forward to playing Matilda even though she is a little nervous. Her favourite part of the show is all of it, with the best bit being the school gymnasium scene and smell of rebellion as she really enjoys the dance number. She is excited that all her family and friends from school are coming to see her.
