Taste Cumbria Christmas brought sparkle and glitz to Cockermouth this weekend as the county’s biggest and best food festival returned to the town for another year.

On Main Street there were nearly 60 traders with stalls packed with things to eat and drink, plus homewares and gifts. There was also an acoustic stage where local musicians played everything from carols to Christmas classics.

There was also plenty of family fun. Santa Claus was at the Kirkgate Arts centre, while Blossom Valley artisan craft shop offered children’s crafts. Then there was free face painting, street theatre, a fairground and elf workshops too.

The sell-out Taste Cumbria Supper Club served up a festive five-course feast at Cockermouth Cricket Club, in conjunction with Takeaway@Home and with gifts generously donated by Cakes from the Lakes.

The event is organised by Allerdale Borough Council and event manager Ellie Windridge said: “What a fantastic festive weekend we have had in Cockermouth.

“The weather was fabulously Christmassy – we even got some snow on Sunday – and it all added to the sparkle of Cockermouth’s beautiful town centre.
