A Sellafield women's group has been shortlisted for a prestigious nuclear award.
The Women in Operational Technology Group has been shortlisted for the Women in Nuclear Award.
This award recognises a person who has been visible, supportive and influential across the nuclear sector in building recognition of the importance of gender balance and diversity.
The group has formerly won the STEM award for its efforts to show young girls what is available to them in the field of science.
The Sellafield group was set up to support women in operational technology roles.
It also goes into schools to talk to primary scholl girls to let them see what is available to them and how science, including nuclear technology, is no longer just for boys.
Spokeswoman Vicki Connor said is one of several women's groups around Sellafield, all aimed at supporting females.
"I have worked at Sellafield for 21 years but in administration. There were few if any operational jobs for women then."
She said times were changing and while the numer of young women was still low, she hoped groups such as hers would encourage more into the industry in future years.
