A MAN has been fined for resisting police on Christmas Day after he refused to leave a property.
Police were called to an address in Workington at 8.15pm on December 25, to a report of a male refusing to leave, Workington Magistrates’ Court heard.
Pamela Fee, prosecuting, said police attended and saw Mark Flett, 44, on the living room floor. The occupier of the address said the defendant had attempted to punch him in the face.
Police informed Flett he was under arrest but he “tensed up” and resisted. At one point, it appeared he was clenching his fist, getting ready to punch the officer, the court heard.
Flett, of Fountains Avenue, Workington, pleaded guilty to resisting a constable in execution of duty.
The defendant, who was unrepresented in court, said: “I didn’t do anything wrong to start with to be arrested. I shouldn’t have resisted. It was stupid.”
Flett was fined £80 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £34 victim surcharge.
