A drink-driver who was more than twice the limit on New Year’s Eve has been given a 40-month ban.
David Ditchburn, 33, was driving a Volvo on Went Meadows Close in Dearham on December 31.
A breath test showed he had 75mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath. The legal limit is 35mcg.
Ditchburn, of Went Meadows Close, Dearham, pleaded guilty to driving with alcohol level above the limit, when he appeared at Workington Magistrates’ Court.
The defendant was given a 12-month community order with 50 hours of unpaid work, along with the driving ban.
He must also pay £85 costs and a £114 victim surcharge.
