A CUMBRIAN Conservative MP has confirmed that he will bid to be the Tory candidate for the newly-formed Penrith and Solway constituency at the next election.
Dr Neil Hudson, current MP for Penrith and The Border, has announced that he will seek to be the candidate for the brand new constituency.
This constituency will run from Seaton in Workington and encompass Maryport, Cockermouth and the Solway, then east to Eden and Alston Moor.
Dr Hudson said: "I can confirm that I will absolutely be standing for selection to represent the Conservative Party as the candidate for the newly-created seat of Penrith and Solway.
"It has been the greatest privilege of my life serving the people of Penrith and The Border, and with Penrith, Eden and Wigton at the heart of the current constituency, I look forward to continue delivering for our vast and diverse county.”
Workington MP Mark Jenkinson has also previously announced that he will also make a bid to be the Conservative candidate for Penrith and Solway.
