WORKINGTON Town boss Anthony Murray has said his side are 'chomping at the bit' to get out for their first home game of 2023.
The Head Coach has said the 'blue and white' army have had an encouraging start to the 2023 campaign in a round of away friendlies against Cumbrian championship sides Whitehaven and Barrow throughout last month.
Town will now go on to play Championship side Bradford Bulls at Derwent Park this Saturday, February 4 in what will be the last warm-up match before their 2023 League One campaign.
Anthony said: "We're looking forward to it, it's another Championship level team. Bradford will be sending up a mixture of academy/reserve players.
"We're really looking to what will be a really strong Bradford team and a really young and enthusiastic team that will be a really good challenge for us.
"It's gonna be a real tough test and one that we are looking forward to, it's a home fixture and we have had some good hit outs against Whitehaven and Barrow, there's lots of positives that have come out from them games and some areas we clearly need to improve on.
"Hopefully we can put that together and give a really good account of ourselves in our first home fixture.
"In the two fixtures we have played we didn't look out of place at all against opposition which are of a higher level - we looked fit, you could see some togetherness there and a lot of effort and commitment in those two games shown, and that's something we need to keep building on in the course of the season."
Anthony praised the work done by the groundsteam, who have got the pitch looking 'perfect' for the first game of the year.

He said: "It's our first fixture at home for 2023, obviously the players are chomping at the bit to get out onto Derwent Park, the field looks absolutely fantastic for this time of year.
"Fair play to Patch and the volunteers that work with him, there has been football played, weekly training and the ground staff have really worked hard and the pitch looks absolutely perfect, so the players are really looking forward to running out at home for the first time in 2023."
