HERE are the scores on the doors for food establishments in Allerdale, as the Food Standards Agency release their latest ratings.

New food hygiene ratings have been awarded to 19 of Allerdale’s establishments, the Food Standards Agency’s website shows.

It's fours and fives across the board, with the exception of one business - the Sailor's Return in Maryport, which received a rating of one.

The report for this establishment, published on the FSA website, found the hygienic food handling and cleanliness and condition of facilities and building to both be generally satisfactory.

However it added that major improvements are necessary in the management of food safety - systems or checks in place to ensure that food sold or served is safe to eat, evidence that staff know about food safety, and the food safety officer has confidence that standards will be maintained in future.
