RESIDENTS of a Workington estate are being asked to be vigilant in the hunt for a missing lizard, who escaped from her home in the area earlier this weekend.
Echo the Tegu, a species of lizard native to Central and South America, has been missing from his home in Moorclose, Workington since Saturday, June 3.
Echo belongs to Pet Encounter Cumbria, with owner Siobhan Harkness praying for her safe return.
Siobhan said: "Could people from the Moorclose area, Workington especially Needham, drive onto the cycle track please keep an eye out for Echo our Tegu.
"She's escaped out of our garden and we have been looking for the last four hours and nothing.
"She's loves to go underneath things and go to sleep, which is what I think she is doing now.
"She can't have gone far and is in the area but with that many hiding places, it would be amazing if everyone could keep an eye out for her and hopefully, she will turn up soon."
People have been out looking for Echo all weekend, and it's understood that people will be taking thermal imaging cameras down the cycle track in Workington today, June 5.
Her owners also thanked everyone who has been looking for her over the weekend.
When asked what members of the public do if they find Echo, Siobhan said: "Just drop us a message, call and keep an eye on her until we get there.
"With it being a different environment I don't know how she would react."
Tegus are omniverous, and in the wild feed on fruit, insects, frogs, small rodents, birds, eggs and carrion.
