ARMED Forces Day will be marked for the 14th year in Workington, as many in the town come together to celebrate all those who have served this weekend.
The Armed Forces day parade will start on Saturday, June 24 at 11am prompt from Pow Street, with the following roads closed from 10.50am: Murray Road, Finkle Street, Vulcans Lane, also from 11.30am Vulcans Lane, Oxford Street and Jane Street.
This year the parade will be lead by Isle of Cumbrea R.B.L.S Pipe band, with members of the Duke of Lancs regiment, serving personnel home on leave, veterans associations, Cadet corps, R.B.L members, Deputy Lord Lieutenant, MP, Town Mayor visiting Mayors, councillors and many residents.
There will be a drum head service in the park led by Rev Frankis Ward with Workington Town Band leading the hymns.
A spokesman for the event organisers said: "This event is for everyone to come together to celebrate our lads and lasses who are serving, served and are going too, anyone reading this is more than welcome to join in, to meet new friends and old ones.
"Lots of fun after the parade at the Workington Royal British Legion Club including top class entertainment from Mickey T, Miss Pearl, Renaissance and Syndicate.
"Face painting, tombola, hook a duck, name the teddy, guess the number of sweets and of course our fantastic raffle, with grateful thanks to everyone for our fabulous donations.
"The Armed Forces Day Team are looking forward to welcoming you all to our 14th year of celebrations ."
