A COCKERMOUTH pharmacy will change it's opening hours from next week, due to a national shortage of GP's and few prescriptions being dispensed at certain times.
The Castlegate Pharmacy, Cockermouth Community Health Centre will reduce it's hours from the start of next week, with the aims of releasing pharmacists to support other pharmacies in the area who are 'struggling to recruit'.
Currently the pharmacy operates between 7am and 10pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 8pm on a Sunday.
From Monday, August 21 the pharmacy hours will be as follows:
- Monday to Saturday 9am - 9pm
- Sunday 10am to 8pm
A spokesman for the Castlegate Pharmacy said: "There is a national shortage of pharmacists.
"While a small number of patients may regret the change in hours, few prescriptions are dispensed at these times.
"It we also release time for pharmacists to support other pharmacies who are struggling to recruit."
